Microbiocides

Pulp and papermaking systems provide ideal environments for the presence and proliferation of microorganisms. DuBois uses a balanced approach towards biological control. We select the most effective biocide from our full range of products. This is then complemented with a program of machine and system cleaning to ensure complete and biological control. The DuBois approach offers a competitive alternative to conventional biocide control.

The success or failure of a biocide program is often contingent upon the feed strategy employed. Laboratory studies which screen the effectiveness of various biocides are only the first step in developing a successful program. Unsuccessful biocide applications often fail, not as a result of poor product selection, but due to improper feed strategy. The application point, target concentration, and contact time at concentration are factors critical to a program success or failure. With this in mind, DuBois has developed unique feed strategies that use the minimum amount of product possible to achieve the target concentration and contact time at concentration.

Part II

• Typical feed strategy may achieve the effective target concentration for only short time periods resulting in less affective biological control.

• The DuBois feed strategy achieves more time at effective concentration at the same cost. Alternately, equal time at effective concentration can be achievedat lower cost.
